Systems Administrator

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and perform system maintenance, software installations and upgrades, patch management and documentation.
  • Administer critical system patches/software updates that affect workstation(s) and servers.
  • Install and maintain antivirus server and workstation software solutions for workstations and servers.
  • Create and maintain adequate company data backup systems and a data recovery process.
  • Conduct hardware and software research and evaluations to determine if they will deliver their value and meet our needs.
  • Maintain and monitor systems to assure they are operating at optimal efficiency.
  • Establish system specifications by conferring with users, analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing system infrastructure.
  • Secure systems by developing system access, monitoring, control, evaluation and maintaining documentation.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Perform additional functions that may be assigned at the discretion of management.

Relationships

  • Work with IT team to automate regular management tasks and streamline processes.
  • Work with IT team to regularly update and adjust our technology strategic plan to assure we meet and are aligned with our business objectives.
  • Support our user’s needs, including troubleshooting, account maintenance and training.
  • Communicate with our internal customers professionally and with an empathetic, customer centric attitude.

Specific Technologies

  • CompTIA Network+ and A+ Certifications at a minimum
  • Server+ (CompTIA)
  • VMware and MS Hyper-V
  • Office 365 Exchange Online Administration
  • Windows 2008, 2102 and 2016 Servers
  • MS Active Directory / Group Policies
  • Integrate Business related Software
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows 7, and 10
  • General working knowledge of IP networking
  • Email support systems such as Spam filtering, archiving/retention, and Smartphone email access
  • Performance and utilization monitoring technologies such as SNMP and WMI
  • PowerShell Scripting a plus
  • Experience with Intrusion Protection, a plus
  • Microsoft SQL Server Administration, a plus
  • Microsoft Azure/AWS Administration, a plus
  • VCP6.5-DCV (VMware), a plus
  • MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure (Microsoft), a plus
  • Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years work experience as a Systems Administrator.
  • Degree in Computer Science or comparable computer related technology degree or certifications.
  • Experience working for a medium or large sized organization with multi-office structure preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft suite of office products.
  • Ability to identify, document and promptly troubleshoot user workstation and server system failures in a real time environment.
  • Ability to develop, write and implement system applications procedures or documentation that provides direction and support to company employees and management.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years work experience as a Systems Administrator.
  • Degree in Computer Science or comparable computer related technology degree or certifications.
  • Experience working for a medium or large sized organization with multi-office structure preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft suite of office products.
  • Ability to identify, document and promptly troubleshoot user workstation and server system failures in a real time environment.
  • Ability to develop, write and implement system applications procedures or documentation that provides direction and support to company employees and management.
