If your company is looking to create a new export compliance program or evaluate your existing one, the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has a new self-assessment toolkit available to download for free from their website.

The toolkit includes best practices of U.S. export companies, auditing practices, and EAR requirements laid out as a series of easy to use checklists.

Topics covered include

  • management commitment
  • risk assessment
  • export compliance security
  • training
  • recordkeeping
  • audits
  • reporting, escalation and corrective action

Each company has unique export activities and export programs; therefore, this toolkit is an example to build upon and does not include ALL Export Administration Regulations restrictions and prohibitions.
