Beginning April 5, 2014, exporters will need to comply with new AES reporting requirements.

Some of these new requirements include:

  • reporting temporary exports valued over $2,500 per Schedule B
  • reporting license value and the type of ultimate consignee (direct consumer, government entity, reseller, or other/unknown)
  • reporting of used self-propelled vehicles regardless of value or country of destination

Originally scheduled to take effect January 8, the U.S. Census Bureau recently announced that the effective date would be postponed until April 5.

More details on the new requirements are available here, on the U.S. Census Bureau’s blog. Please note that the blog post was published earlier this year, before Census announced that it was postponing the effective date. The blog post cites the old effective date of January 8. The new effective date is April 5 (source).
