Negotiations for a new labor contract for West Coast ports “will continue to move forward” and “normal operations will continue at the ports until an agreement can be reached,” according to a joint press release issued last night by the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) and the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU).

Both parties are now negotiating outside the bounds of a standing labor agreement, as the most current contract expired yesterday, July 1, at 5pm.
