The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced changes to the January 2025 Periodic Monthly Statement (PMS) schedule following the announcement of a Presidential Executive Order. This update designates January 9, 2025, as a National Day of Mourning, now recognized as a CBP holiday. The revised schedule has been detailed in CBP’s CSMS #63612638 notification, which confirms adjustments to preliminary statement issuance and payment deadlines.

Key Updates PMS Schedule

  1. Preliminary Statement Date: Originally scheduled for January 16, 2025, the preliminary PMS statements will now be issued on January 17, 2025. This allows periodic daily statements to be scheduled up until January 16, 2025.
  2. Payment Due Date: The payment date, initially set for January 23, 2025, has been moved to January 24, 2025. Importers and brokers utilizing the Automated Clearinghouse (ACH) Debit system will see these updates applied automatically.
  3. Reason for the Change: The adjustment stems from the Executive Order designating January 9, 2025, as a National Day of Mourning, during which CBP operations recognize the day as a holiday. As a result, the operational calendar has been shifted accordingly.

Implications for Importers and Brokers

  • ACH Debit Payments: Businesses enrolled in CBP’s ACH Debit program do not need to take any additional action, as the new payment date of January 24, 2025, will be automatically reflected in the system.
  • Daily Statement Adjustments: Importers and brokers should ensure that any daily statements intended for inclusion in the preliminary PMS are scheduled by January 16, 2025.
