It has been reported by the Journal of Commerce (JOC) that a deal between Local 13 of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) has been reached on manning requirements for non-automated terminals. This deal is the first of many major hurdles that could accelerate an agreement on a new coastwide contract as negotiations near the one-year mark.

Coastwide negotiations between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and employers will now turn to wages and pension benefits.
