The Gulf states that surround Qatar have imposed sanctions to ban transportation to and from Qatar via land, sea, or air, until further notice. According to Bloomberg, the reason for this ban is for “supporting terrorist groups ranging from Shiite Iranian proxies to Sunni militants such as Islamic State.”
All major ocean carriers including, Maersk, OOCL, and Evergreen, have suspended service to and from Qatar at this time.
