The Mohawk Charitable Fund has been renamed the Michael J. McSherry Charitable Fund in tribute to the company’s founder.
Founded in 2007, the Charitable Fund exists to provide for the charitable giving of Mohawk employees to those most in need in the Upstate New York community. It consists of employee and matching corporate contributions.
The Fund is the brainchild of Mohawk’s founder and chairman, Michael J. McSherry.
“It’s an apt tribute,” says Mohawk’s President & CEO Gar Grannell, who met McSherry in 1990 when interviewing for his first job with the company.
“This year we’re celebrating 40 years in business. I wanted to do something special to honor Mike’s leadership and dedication to the company,” explains Grannell.
“Mike and I have become close friends over the past several years,” says Grannell. “He’s a very generous person, which makes it all the more appropriate for the Fund to have his namesake,” he says.
As of this November, the Fund has donated a total of $70,000 since its inception in 2007.
