The proposed tariff increase on Chinese goods from 25 to 30 percent is currently scheduled to take effect on October 15. This 5 percent increase is the Trump Administration’s response to China’s retaliatory tariffs on about $75 billion worth of U.S. goods. Importers and other interested parties have until September 20 to submit comments on the increase.
Products included in the tariff increase can be found here: Section 301 Tariff Overview
What To Address
Comments submitted should focus on the effects of eliminating policies related to technology, intellectual property, and innovation that could strain or restrict commerce. Importers should also address if the increase on certain products could cause significant harm to the economic development of small or medium-sized businesses.
We will keep you informed, if there are further tariff updates. In the meantime, please reach out to your Mohawk customer service representative with any questions.
