How It Works

Import Process:

Containers arrive at NY/NJ ports
CSX via Conrail services all NY/NJ terminals
Transferred via CSX rail to Syracuse or Buffalo
Delivered locally via drayage
Empty containers are terminated in Mohawk container yard and inspected for export quality

Export Process:

Export Bookings made through Mohawk, or direct booking on your export contract
Loading facilities typically within 100 miles of Syracuse or Buffalo
Return to CSX ramp for intermodal rail to NY/NJ ports for overseas delivery

Container Reuse:
Empty containers are inspected, graded (e.g., food-grade), and reassigned for export—maximizing utilization and reducing repositioning costs.
