On Friday evening federal mediators announced that the International Longshoremen’s Association and the U.S. Maritime Alliance reached a tentative agreement for a new contract.
Both parties must now ratify the agreement and settle negotiations at the local level. According to a press release from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, “…local negotiations are ongoing and will continue without interruption to any port operation.”
Details of the tentative agreement will remain confidential, per agency policy, until a formal agreement is in place.
