The Port of Houston has closed both Barbours Cut and Bayport Container Terminals, as of July 27, due to a major failure of the storage devices that support all applications used for operations. This has been confirmed as a system failure and not a cyber-attack. The Port Authority assures that the ships already in progress have been able to continue working but they have not been able to start new vessels.

As reopening today does not seem possible, they have promised to include daily extended gate hours, as well as weekend gates to get operations moving quickly again—once they have reopened.
