list 4 suspended

The implementation of Section 301 list 4 tariffs—additional 25 percent tariffs on about $300 billion worth of Chinese goods—has been suspended following President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s meeting at the G20 summit in Japan. Companies should be aware that this suspension could end at any time, if ongoing trade talks with China stall.

In the meantime, the exclusion portal for submitting list 3 exclusion requests has opened and importers have until September 30 to enter submissions.

If you import goods that are on list 3 and are granted exemptions, those exemptions will be effective for one year and retroactive to September 24, 2018. This means you have a chance to obtain refunds on tariffs already paid.
