USMCA Interim Instructions (1)

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has published updated US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) interim implementing instructions. The additions and updates are listed below.

New

  • Phase I Implementation – First Six Months upon Entry into Force – (July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020)
  • Drawback Entry (Entry Type 47)
  • Reconciliation Entry (Entry Type 09)

Updated

  • Making a Preference Claim & Entry Procedures

These instructions are intended to be early guidelines to allow importers to begin preparing for USMCA. They are not final and are subject to further revision. The Final Implementing Instructions will be released prior to the USMCA’s effective date and will include the Trade and Field with additional details on the USMCA entry, compliance, and other requirements.
