The FDA has established Jan. 1, 2024 as the uniform compliance date for food labeling regulations that are published on or after Jan. 1, 2021 and on or before Dec. 31, 2022. The final rule  has taken effect Jan. 6, 2021.

The FDA has stated that they “periodically announce uniform compliance dates for new food labeling requirements to minimize the economic impact of labeling changes.” The FDA encourages industries to comply with new labeling regulations as swiftly as possible.

All food products subject to the January 1, 2024, uniform compliance date must comply with the appropriate labeling regulations when first introduced to interstate commerce on or after January 1, 2024.  Labeling and nutrition guidance documents, as well las regulatory information issued by the FDA can be found here.
