Under a Presidential Proclamation issued on Oct. 30, there will be a set of changes to the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) that will take effect Nov. 1. Certain products have been added and removed from the list of goods that are eligible for GSP. Changes include the addition of fresh-cut roses, and the removal of parboiled rice from the list of goods eligible for GSP trade benefits.

The U.S. Trade Representatives announced that the President is suspending $817 million in trade preferences for Thailand under the GSP program, due to their lack of sufficient progress in providing the U.S. with “equitable and reasonable market access for pork products.”

These suspensions of products of Thailand will be effective Dec. 30. These changes were reflected in an update to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule posted by the International Trade Commission.
