The Commodity Classification Standards Board (CCSB) has announced a series of National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) changes effective, April 10, 2021. Many items have been cancelled as obsolete, new items numbers have been added, and certain classes—based on density—have been changed. These changes may impact anyone with less than truckload (LTL) shipments of certain commodities in the following major categories.

  • Foodstuffs
  • Chemicals
  • Stairs or Stairways
  • Glass
  • Furniture
  • Wire
