On March 26 the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that importers need to register for a CARM Client Portal (CCP) account before April 26.

CBSA will be shutting down the portal as of April 26th to prepare for the CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) rollout on May 13. Failure to register and delegate authority to your customs broker could result in delays and late accounting penalties.

Our team has been reaching out to clients, informing them of the importance to register before the deadline. If you would like assistance with registration and delegation, please reach out to your Mohawk Global Representative.

If you need a quick start guide to applying for a CARM account, you can find it here.

The following steps need to be taken to register as an individual user, register the business, and delegate authority to your customs broker:

  1. Obtain a GCKey and create a user account.
  2. Register the business and link the user account.
  3. Assign delegation of authority to third party
  4. Assign delegation of authority to company employees
