Renewal of FDA Food Facility Registration Starts 10/1

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has updated their food facility registration requirements. Food facilities will be required to provide a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number when registering with FDA or renewing FDA registration.

All FDA-registered food facilities must renew their FDA registrations between October 1 and December 31, 2022. Previous renewals allowed the use of a “pending” DUNS number if one could not be obtained, which will no longer be sufficient for renewal in 2022.

It should be noted that the name and contact information on the FDA food facility registration must exactly match the DUNS number contact information associated with the physical location of the food facility. Without an exact match, the registration may be cancelled.

The FDA has provided information and directions for registration on their user guide.  Companies may apply for a DUNS number through Dun & Bradstreet.  For further guidance or questions on renewals, please reach out to your Mohawk Global representative.
