The Office of U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) is requesting comments regarding the Section 301 duties starting, November 15, 2022. It is strongly recommended that importers complete the questionnaire. Any additional comments may help shape the policy of the USTR and the Biden administration on Section 301 duties.
While providing comments to the USTR and/or a completed questionnaire does not guarantee any positive action on Section 301 duties, large scale responses from importers who have been impacted may help sway the USTR regarding the future of these tariffs. When commenting to the USTR it is critical that companies stress the financial impacts quantitively, as well as any business impacts, such as employment numbers, percentage growth—or negative growth—loss of business to foreign competitors, etc.
